Dukkah (Roasted Nut Spice Mix)

Dukkah is good.  Enough said.  It’s a simple recipe of roasted nuts and spices ground into a coarse mix.  I made my own version using this recipe l found here.

Makes about 1 cup

1 cup nuts
1 tbs raisins
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1 tbs cup ground coriander
1 tbs cup ground cumin
Pinch of cinnamon or to taste (You don’t want it to over power the other flavors)
1 teaspoon sea salt
Freshly ground black pepper

Toast nuts and seeds in separate batches.  Let cool completely.

Combine all ingredients in a food processor and pulse until its dry and crumbly. Don’t overmix or else you will end up with a spicy nut butter which also could be a tasty mistake.

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. (I of course kept my in an old peanut butter jar)

*Note*  You can make your Dukkah savory or sweet.  Mine was more of a curry background with a hint of sweet.  Goes very well with roasted veggies and salad.
